A good dock is almost essential for MacBook and Mac Mini users, it expands your port selection, charges your laptop, lets you run multiple monitors, and helps reduce clutter to keep your setup organised.
iVANKY offers a range of docks tailored specifically for Mac users. I’ve been testing two of them: the FusionDock Pro 3, a Thunderbolt 5 dock aimed squarely at the latest M4 Macs, and the FusionDock Max 1, a slightly larger option with more ports but based on Thunderbolt 4.
Which one is the best fit for your Mac? Let’s find out.

Design
Both docks share a sleek, modern aesthetic with a blend of metal and high-quality plastic that feels solid and built to last. They’ve also got a reassuring bit of weight to them, meaning they’ll stay firmly planted on your desk. One downside? Both ship with a fairly chunky external power brick, not ideal, but expected for high-performance docks like these.
There’s also a noticeable difference in size: the FusionDock Max 1 is taller and chunkier overall, so keep that in mind if desk space is tight, or you’re after something more travel-friendly to throw in your bag alongside your MacBook.

Specs
The FusionDock Pro 3 is the newer of the two and supports Thunderbolt 5 for lightning-fast data transfer. It offers three Thunderbolt 5 ports, doubling the bandwidth of older models and making it one of the fastest options for Mac users. It’s also fully backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and 4, so no worries if you’re not fully up to date.
Around the back, two Thunderbolt 5 ports let you run dual high-resolution displays, ideal if you’re using something like a 5K Studio Display or Apple’s 6K Pro Display XDR. On the front, there’s a single Thunderbolt 5 port that delivers up to 140W of charging power, perfect for keeping a MacBook Pro juiced up during intense workflows.
You’ll also find three USB-A ports (two rated at 10 Gbps), a 2.5GbE Ethernet port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a high-speed SD card slot supporting UHS-II SD 4.0 cards, capable of write speeds up to 156 MB/s.
The FusionDock Max 1, while slightly older and based on Thunderbolt 4, is still an absolute beast. For most Apple users, including professionals, this will offer more than enough power and flexibility. It can connect up to four displays simultaneously (three 6K and one 4K), which is rare even among premium docks. In total, you get six USB-C ports, with two offering 96W power delivery for your MacBook Pro.
It also features two HDMI ports, a 2.5GbE Ethernet port, five 10Gbps USB-A ports, dual SD/TFT UHS-II card slots, two 3.5mm audio jacks, and even a Toslink optical port. This really is the ultimate dock for creative professionals who need to hook up a wide range of devices without compromise.
Performance
In my testing of both products over several weeks, the FusionDock Pro 3 and FusionDock Max 1 have performed performed flawlessly. They offer simple plug and play integration so your setup is ready quickly. Both docks have worked flawlessly with my M4 Mac Mini and Studio Display setup, and it has easily handled charging my iPad Pro and iPhone as well as charging my keyboard and DJI Mic.
Regarding temperatures and potential overheating, both docks warm up a little during use, but that’s nothing to worry about as long as you provide ample airflow in your setup.

Final Thoughts
Both the iVANKY FusionDock Pro 3 and FusionDock Max 1 are high-quality docking solutions for MacBook and Mac Mini users, offering a generous mix of ports, connectivity, and charging options.
The FusionDock Pro 3 is ideal if you’re using one of the latest M4 Macs and want to take full advantage of those blazing-fast Thunderbolt 5 speeds, especially if you only need to connect a handful of devices at once. On the other hand, if you’re a power user with a larger setup and need to connect multiple devices, including up to four displays, the larger FusionDock Max 1 is probably the better fit. It’s based on Thunderbolt 4, which is still more than fast enough, and the number of available ports is hard to match.
Bottom line: you really can’t go wrong with either. Both docks are reliable, well-designed, and offer excellent value for money. A solid companion for your Mac, whichever one you choose.
