During the cold winter months I’ve mostly stayed at home and focused on studio work, with minimal food photography being one of my main subjects. I’ve done a fair amount of food photography over the last couple of years for two primary reasons, firstly it’s fairly enjoyable, and secondly, I make quite a few sales from the resulting images.
My approach to capturing food photography has changed during this period, I’ve gone from using multiple studio lights to purely using natural light only. Using natural window light produces excellent results, and it’s also far more enjoyable to work with than constantly adjusting my studio lights.
All of the food and drink images shown in this blog post were captured using natural light only.
If anyone wants to buy any of my minimal food photography you can do so via my Creative Market shop.
